What2Do · Information and transparency

Legal & Privacy

Draft for review — not a published legal policy. This page is a development starting point. Before the website launches, the business identity, contact address, hosting provider, data-processing practices, retention periods, rights procedures and any organiser-account arrangements must be verified and the text legally reviewed.

1. Who operates What2Do?

Data controller: [confirm legal company or trading name].
Contact for privacy and legal enquiries: [confirm business contact email and registered/contact address].

2. What this website is for

What2Do aims to help people find events, activities and worthwhile experiences nearby. The website explains the app and will eventually link to the official Android and iOS listings. Current screenshots may include clearly identified fictional examples and should not be relied on as real events or availability.

3. Privacy — public site preview

This static development version does not offer public accounts, collect visitor-submitted forms, run embedded analytics or intentionally set marketing cookies. The Admin button directs developers to a separate local gateway, and the Organiser button does not currently accept registration details. When hosted, the hosting and security providers may necessarily process IP addresses and technical request information; their identity, lawful basis, purpose and retention have not yet been chosen or confirmed.

Before launch we must publish a factual privacy notice covering the controller's identity and contact details, personal information processed, purposes and lawful bases, recipients and international transfers if relevant, retention periods, people's data rights and how to complain to the ICO. We must also document separately any personal-data handling by the Android/iOS apps and organiser or admin systems.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The two-page static preview does not contain analytics, advertising trackers, or optional cookie scripts. Authentication, hosting and future integrations could change that. Before publication, confirm all technologies actually used, explain necessary cookies and obtain appropriate consent before setting any non-essential cookies or equivalent trackers. A cookie banner should not be added unless the deployed setup needs one.

5. Website terms of use — draft

This is a preview of What2Do's public information site. Visitors may read it for personal informational purposes. The page does not provide bookings, event tickets, a guarantee of event availability or an organiser account. Do not use the website to compromise security, interfere with the service or misrepresent any content as an authorised What2Do communication.

Before publication, the final website terms must specify the responsible legal entity, intellectual-property ownership and permitted use, acceptable use, external links, update procedures, dispute handling and legally appropriate limitations of liability. Nothing in the final terms should exclude legal rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Event accuracy, third-party links and rights

Events may change or be cancelled, and visitors should check details with the organiser before travelling. Links to other services are managed by those third parties. What2Do's original branding, software and other original works may be protected by intellectual-property rights; factual listings can have different rights and source-licensing requirements. Any real event photos or third-party content must be appropriately licensed or replaced with owned artwork.

7. Changes to this page

The final public policy will include a publication date and change history. This draft deliberately has no effective date and should not be represented as a completed compliance review.

8. Helpful independent guidance
